Betty served as the inspiration for picking up my first vintage sewing pattern, which then sat for forever in my sewing box. When I finally got around to cutting out the pieces, it took some time for me to finish it. I think I was partly intimidated because I’d only ever sewn one garment from a pattern. Though I know a double pointed dart and facing can’t be that difficult, I’d never done either before.

I wish I hadn’t been so intimidated.
This muslin was a piece of cake and looks better than I could have expected–even in this floral Ikea fabric. I could definitely see this in a wool for winter or an eyelet for summer. Now I just need to go fabric shopping.
Enjoy your weekend.

i’m still very intimidated about patterns, next time could you do a sort of diy/tutorial to document what it’s like?
I’ve picked out the fabric for the final version and I will absolutely do a tutorial when I make it.
