The reason there haven’t been a lot of in-the-dressing-room type posts is that I haven’t been shopping much lately.  It’s partly due to the fact that I’m much busier these days and partly due to the fact that I’ve been toying around with the idea of a shopping ban (though this isn’t the big project I referenced the other day–that should come later this week.)

While I haven’t instituted any ban as of yet, it seems like even thinking about doing it has really curtailed my shopping–though not my desire to, which is why I haven’t started the ban yet.  I really don’t want to set myself up for failure.

However, for my birthday one of my very best friends gave me a gift certificate to Anthropologie.  You can tell just how busy I’ve been in that it took me two weeks to finally get to their downtown location.

While plenty of the new fall clothing is awfully pretty, I’m just not ready to think about sweaters and jackets as of quite yet.  I found plenty of cute stuff in the sale section, though.

Despite the typically low lighting in Anthro’s dressing rooms, I snapped a few shots to capture just why I didn’t buy anything–even though I basically had free money to spend there.  I know–it sounds crazy.  But the rise on these sailor pants (my favorite kind!) are doing me no favors.  I don’t think I’ll be sporting anything high-waisted any time soon.

This top was promising but I really just can’t get comfortable in halters; they never have enough support and strapless bras tend to be torture devices that bind me down, pad me up or distort my shape and make me look worse than if I just swung free.  I contemplated pushing my comfort limits, being adventurous, experimenting with a style I don’t typically wear–and then realized I’d never wear it and there are already enough things that sit in my closet neglected.

This top was perhaps the most promising of all.  A pretty blue, my favorite, empire shape with a fat bow that could be tied multiple ways.  Quite honestly though, I was a bit bored by it.  Shockingly, despite having a gift certificate, I walked out of Anthropologie empty-handed.

Hopefully in a few days I’ll be able to show you what I found online…
