Saturday
Little mirrored discs on chain.
And a necklace featuring a bead I believe Shona gave me ages ago that I actually forgot I had. It so reminded me of an egg that I had to pair it with leaves. If only I’d had a bird charm!

While I probably have more than enough wool and tweed in my wardrobe to throw something together, I’m getting seriously tempted by the idea of a vest…
More photos from the San Francisco Tweed Ride…and previously on (Into) the Fray…
8 Comments »I’ve raved about Uncommon Goods before. The most recent catalog didn’t fail to live up to my expectations.
It was mostly housewares that caught my eye this time around. Living in a techie region, this welcome mat made me smile.
As a total neat freak, these index style cutting boards are super appealing. No mixing up which one is for meat and which is for veggies.
Though there’s something a bit bachelor pad about this lamp, I adore the idea. You could switch out the bottles when you got bored. If there was a way to ceiling mount it, I’d be all over it.

Gotta love the vampire trend.
Hope you’re having a great weekend.

Then, when the package arrived, I was shocked to see a big old box instead of a little envelope. In addition to the belt, which I’ve worn all week, were these wonderful goodies.
Everyone should have their own magical craft flower fairy.
7 Comments »Cool, cool leather jewelry and you know I get a kick out of unconventional mediums for jewelry.
I found out about AK Vintage from a press release, one of the first I’ve gotten in months that didn’t make me want to tear my hair out.
All of the jewelry is graphic and simple but the leather pieces really caught my eye, more funky and playful.
4 Comments »Gray, grey. I’ve never figured out which spelling to use.
It’s been a color I’ve obsessed over since the beginning.
Two new-to-me coats mean I might now have a collection. The first is from Forever 21 (I know) while the second is a vintage Pendleton I nabbed from Etsy. They join the pea collar swing coat I got from a thrift store for job interviews. I really should wear all three more often.
For those in the states, I hope you have a lovely three day weekend ahead of you. I’ve been so busy, I didn’t even realize I have Monday off until today!

It’s sometimes scary to think how long I’ve had some of the beads in my stash. This rhodonite has lasted quite some time, as have the filigree beads capping off this dramatic pair.

The Arabella earrings were one of those rare pairs I really wanted to hang on to for myself…but given my already exploding jewelry collection, just couldn’t let myself even imagine keeping.
And woo hoo to the milestone I reached earlier this week: 300 sales!

In my opinionation, hats are not going to make a comeback.

I’ve always had this fantasy of dressing up with someone as one of my favorite paintings. I love how flickr shows me I’m not the only one who’s had that idea.
The rest of the credit:
1. A glass of red wine, please? -E X P L O R E D-, 2. Si je dors, qui me donnera la lune?, 3. The Long Distance Lovers, 4. Pink, 5. Flapper-Era Frippery, 6. Untitled, 7. lookin so noble, 8. Vintage Creamy White Gloves, 9. A Very Kitty Christmas
I saw A Single Man with Colin Firth and Julianne Moore last week with an old coworker. I had no idea until the name flashed across the screen that Tom Ford directed it. Had I been better at keeping up with my fashion blog reading, I might not have been caught by surprise.
I was not really impressed. The phrase ’style over substance’ kept occuring to me. I just never fully engaged with the characters but would have happily watched the entire thing on mute for the costumes, bouffant hair styles, and prettiness alone.
It’s too bad because I adore Julianne Moore in just about anything–and Colin Firth is yumminess personified.
Maybe I’ll just watch Magnolia for the 11th time to cleanse the palate…
Hope you had a lovely weekend.
13 Comments »I’m dying for the flickr group that’s devoted to cat tattoos.
That such a thing exists means the internet has real purpose.
I don’t think I’d ever get something similar but I love the whimsy of it.
Once there’s a group devoted to one legged terriers, I’ll have seen it all.
9 Comments »I’m a sucker for flow charts and would love some kind of clever inspiration to make one. Lucky Megan of On Fire with Fireflies (so talented!), had the best excuse, an uber cute shop full of handbags, totes and other accessories: Bungalow 360.
The fabrics make me think of Lilly Pulitzer and The Official Preppy Handbook with a much cooler flare.
I’m dying for this belt, peeps. Seriously.
10 Comments »One more belated Christmas-ish post before I move on to other things. I just wanted to share the wee stockings I made, mostly for coworkers but also for friends.
From felted sweater remnants, embellished with vintage lace or rick rack.
Then Dawn surprised me with this awesome bird that will definitely be hanging from my door year round. Love!
Now, with 2010 here, that should be it for the Christmas-ish posts!
2 Comments »Of the mess of cards I got this year, the ones I got from my sister were the best for humor. Yes, more than one–she liked these so much she bought a handful.
I know the holiday is past but man, these are funny. And worth stocking up on for next year.

& this might be pretty niche for humor but maybe the curly-haired out there can relate (Sal?)
Even greater, each card is hand painted and actually really cute in person. Available at Snarky Cards or via Super Alisa’s blog.
Hope you had a great holiday.
