And a necklace featuring a bead I believe Shona gave me ages ago that I actually forgot I had. It so reminded me of an egg that I had to pair it with leaves. If only I’d had a bird charm!
It’s sometimes scary to think how long I’ve had some of the beads in my stash. This rhodonite has lasted quite some time, as have the filigree beads capping off this dramatic pair.
The Arabella earrings were one of those rare pairs I really wanted to hang on to for myself…but given my already exploding jewelry collection, just couldn’t let myself even imagine keeping.
And woo hoo to the milestone I reached earlier this week: 300 sales!
Two new necklaces are listed in the shop. The first matches a pair of earrings in my favorite trefoil shape.
Paired with a freshwater pearl in violet.
The second features some of the vintage lace I was given by my coworker. I’ve been obsessed with textiles in jewelry, especially lace, for a long time so this kind of thing was inevitable.
I imagine this will be the last shop update before the new year–though the long weekend might give me a chance to get creative. We shall see.
These shell discs are actually the last of their strand, again paired with the silver circlets I couldn’t stay away from yesterday.
And in the other category, a necklace I’ve had in mind for some time but lacked enough chain to put together. A pink briolette and a black disc in the Blush Eclipse.
It’s funny. With big personal changes, it’s hard not to want to manifest those changes in som external way. I find myself drawn to things I can’t imagine wearing six months ago–the crazy leggings are a good example of that. These amazing earrings are another:
Flouncy, feminine detail seems to be the order of the day.
I honestly think I just got tired of seeing this gray tank in my to-do pile and finally attacked it with flouncy eyelet trim and vintage buttons in blue.
These tiny amazonite beads were re-purposed from another project. With filigree caps, they remind me of some vintage jewelry you might find at an estate sale.
I know I’ve said before that I don’t really go for traditional holiday jewelry but I guess those colors have been on my mind regardless.
There are few bracelets in the shop only for the reason that I rarely wear them myself. Shona sent me this green bead ages ago, though, and I could only see it with red. As much as I kept trying to form some kind of pendant with it, a bracelet was the result. I didn’t realize it at the time, but there are actually earrings that match.
And the first of the Christmas gift craftiness–I’ve got lots in mind for the holiday season and am hoping I’ll have the time and motivation to get everything done before the date is actually here.
I forced myself to sit with my beads for a bit this weekend and despite the multiple projects that I thought I might try to tackle, I was surprised to find this was the result.
The Luna Pearl necklace featuring three chunks of moonstone interspersed with pearls.
And Michelle Nuit in hunter green and black. Both are so different but so make me feel the winter that has been steadily setting in here.
I’ve also added a ton of stuff to the sale section–clearing things out as I start fresh in so many ways.
Textiles as jewelry has always caught my eye but I’ve recently become acquainted with another innovative material worn as accessories: acrylic.
Modern, ridiculously fun and often colorful, aubeebop’s jewelry immediately won me over–especially these 3 dimensional bracelets that make me think of solar system models.
Then, while splurging on a pair of shoes I’ll reveal once they arrive, I came across Jane D’Arensbourg’s jewelry on Twig.
Love the cool, geometric shapes the material seems to lend to the design, regardless of the artist.
Between the new beads I got in Victoria, a handful of sales, and items expiring out of the shop, I had more than enough of an excuse to make a bunch of jewelry the weekend before last. It’s slowly been making it’s way into the shop all week.
The end of the summer months is upon us. I’m devastated it’s gone by so quickly–we’ve not yet managed to camp and have only hiked once–but I’m going to celebrate anyways.
After all, my thoughts haven’t been entirely free of fall and I think my shop is ready for the same. So everything, and I mean everything, is buy one, get one 50% off. Sale, clothing, everything. Of course, the whole equal or lesser value bit applies.
We’re off to Lake Quinault, our first trip back to the peninsula since our very first sojourn together 3 years ago–but the shop will remain open. And the discount will be in effect through Sunday at midnight. You can either pay and I’ll refund the difference or wait for a revised invoice after making your purchase.
Thanks so much. I hope your summer didn’t rush by as quickly as mine did!
When more than a week goes by without any creative output on my part, I start to feel a mix of guilt, an antsy compulsion, and exasperation that my schedule doesn’t allow me to spend as much time making things as I’d like. The last thing I finished was a tunic top for a wedding that took up the entirety of the first August weekend. I feel like it’s been catch up on other things since then.
Then a project for my sister took up some of my focus, the car the boyfriend and I share started to overheat, we decided to book a trip to Victoria for the coming holiday weekend only to realize after the fact that my passport has expired, and one of the cats has been adding to the fun by pooping next to the cat box instead of in it.
Yesterday, after nearly two weeks of doing nothing creative, I made myself sit down with my beads. After fussing with various beads and stones for nearly an hour, I gave up. It just wasn’t going to happen and I couldn’t force it. Despite having had 4-5 hours of sleep last night (I don’t know how chronic insomniacs like Wendy do it), I tried again today and had a bit more success. The earrings are in the shop, and the necklace will shortly follow.
I feel like my forays with green in the past have been decidedly subtle. To me, it’s a distinctive color that I rarely combine with other bright, powerful colors.
The latest additions to the shop, however, are just that. Bright and punchy, just like the insanely hot weather we’ve been having. Saniyah Emerald, with cinnabar.
& Turino Lime. Hope you have a lovely Friday and a cool weekend!
I can’t seem to get away from those pale, blushing colors that are so ubiquitous this summer.
The latest shop update is evidence of that. The Francesca necklace features a single briolette I picked up ages ago, made into a pair of earrings I was never quite happy with, and finally turned into this simple piece.
These earrings are a bit more elaborate, a cluster of pearls and crystals dancing from elongated ear wires. I rarely make cluster earrings because they’re often more labor intensive but I loved all of these elements so much together that I couldn’t help myself this time. Both are in the shop.
